Definitive Reviews of London’s Indian Restaurants

Lal Qila 8

This is a very popular restaurant (highly rated by users of Trip Advisor) right in the heart of London.

Much of the popularity seems to derive from the warm welcome of the waiters, and one waiter in particular. We were indeed greeted by smiles and laughter by this very cheerful individual and that put everyone in a good mood.

The food was pretty good. We started with a Sizzling Chicken and a Tandoori Mixed Grill (the latter asn’t actually listed on the menu although there was a picture of it – a bit strange). Then we had Chicken Jalfrezi, Chicken Shashlik and King Prawn Dhansak. The portions were all very generous and flavoursome.

And nothing was very expensive; for example most of the starters were £3 – £5.

When we came to pay, we were told that their credit card machine was out of order so we would have to pay by cash. One of my companions said exactly the same thing had happened on a previous occasion. In other words, they want you to pay in cash – maybe not what HMRC would like, but so what?
