Spice of India
I’d walked past this place many times but had hesitated about trying it as the menu looked rather unexciting – quite short and with no dishes hotter than a Madras. So I was pleasantly surprised by every aspect of this restaurant when I did eventually try it one weekday evening in the autumn.
My co-diner asked if an off-menu Chicken Vindaloo could be created. They said this would be no problem, and the resulting dish was excellent. I myself went for a Chicken Jalfrezi, which was also very good.
The service was friendly and very efficient. Some reviewers on other sites have suggested that the waiters try to rush you through your meal so that they can use your table again, but this was not my experience.
When the bill arrived, it was much lower than I had expected. Furthermore the waiter insisted that service was included, even though there was nothing to suggest this on the menu or the bill itself. By the time we lefty, the place was full.
So it’s cheap, good, popular, friendly and efficient. What not to like?
