Cinnamon Kitchen
As it was a summer evening, the offer to sit on the outside terrace seemed like a good idea. It isn’t actually outside, it’s in a covered courtyard – so when it started to rain we were able to continue with our meal in what was a very pleasant and airy setting.
Cinnamon Kitchen is an off-shoot from the well-known Cinnamon Club restaurant. It offers what it describes as “evolved Modern Indian cuisine.”
It seemed like a good idea to try their “special menu”, being a thali-style selection of their house specials. This menu apparently varies constantly, but on this occasion it included a Saffron Pistacchio Kofta, Pan-fried Crab Cakes, a Confit Duck Terrine, a succulent Tandoori Rack of Lamb and Carrot Fudge. None of the portions were very large, but there were lots of them.
The service was charming and efficient – something other reviewers have not agreed on.
This is very different from most curry houses, but the food is enjoyable. Just be warned: it isn’t cheap.
