Definitive Reviews of London’s Indian Restaurants

Dhaba@49 8

Dhaba@49 is on a busy corner in Maida Vale. It had been open for just over a year when I went.

It is clearly doing something right, being very highly ranked on TripAdvisor. Also, when we left (on a Sunday evening) there was a queue of people waiting to get in. (Many Indian restaurants would be grateful to have any diners at all on a Sunday evening.)

The menu is quite short, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We started with a couple of delicious cocktails; the Whiskey Sour was particularly good.

The starters of Tandoori Salmon and Chicken Tikka Trio were excellent, being beautifully tender and generously sized portions. We then had their “house” curry, Dhaba Chicken, a Chicken Saag and an interesting vegetable dish, Methi Makai Masala. All very good. A couple of Mango Kulfi lollies nicely rounded off the evening.

The service was very friendly, albeit a bit slow. Prices were very reasonable. More visits required soon.
