Indian Express
This is a small, unassuming restaurant in the very nondescript thoroughfare that is North End Road in West Kensington. They don’t sell alcohol, but you can bring your own and there is a Sainsbury’s right across the street.
They’re certainly doing something right, as Indian Express regularly features right up near the top of London restaurants in the Tripadvisor rankings (not just Indian restaurants, but all restaurants).
We shared a couple of Raja Platters to start (basically a tandoori mixed grill), before having main courses as recommended by the (very friendly) waiter/manager. These included a couple of dishes from the “Chef’s Special” menu, Chicken Tawa and Shatkora Gosht (lamb cooked with wild lemon and pickle). These were both good, a little different from the normal curry house fare. The menu does also have the more familiar Madras/Vindaloo/Korma selection if you’re feeling less adventurous.
It was very good value for money, being even cheaper because it’s BYOB. I think a return visit is needed soon to explore some of the other rather unusual dishes on the menu.
