Definitive Reviews of London’s Indian Restaurants

Madhu’s 10

This restaurant is similar in many ways to the Brilliant (q.v.) and when I originally came here a few years ago it was called “Madhu’s Brilliant”. It then mysteriously closed for a couple of years, but it’s back – and even better than before.

The setting is definitely more upmarket than most Southall eateries, and in summer the air-conditioning is pleasantly effective.

The food is very similar to that at the Brilliant, including the awesome Butter Chicken and Chilli Chicken starters. But there are also some unusual dishes on the menu, such as Nyamah Choma (marinated lamb ribs) and Mogo Jeera (fried cassava). There are also family sized portions of some main courses, to be shared by three or six people. The prices tend to be a bit higher, reflecting the slightly more upmarket setting.

If you’re making the journey to Southall, you can’t go wrong with either Madhu’s or the Brilliant. Usefully when one of them is closed (The Brilliant on Mondays, Madhu’s on Tuesdays), the other one is open.
