Mumtaz
The setting is large, light and airy; there are lots of tables by windows, affording a view of the road outside — on many days this is populated by crowds of cricket fans returning from nearby Lords Cricket Ground to central London.
I have visited Mumtaz on a couple of occasions as it is near where I now live. The standard of the food has been consistently high. On a recent visit we enjoyed Karahi Prawns, Chicken Jalfrezi and Bhindi Gosht as our main courses, preceded by a Mixed Starter selection. Portions were in all cases generous.
However the service is disapoointing — not because it is unduly slow, but because the waiters seem to have had a personality bypass. There was no particular welcome and no real conversation of any kind. A robot could easily be programmed to do a better job. This makes for a somewhat unwelcoming reception.
But the prices are reasonable and, because of its proximity to where I live, I will certainly give it another try.
