This is a rather small restaurant in a nondescript street near Victoria Station. So when I arrived at around 7.00pm on a Tuesday evening, I was somewhat surprised to see that the place was already almost full — a good sign. (I had booked to be on the safe side).
We started by sharing a Tandoori Mixed Grill — extremely tasty, and a generous portion. We then progressed to a Chicken Jalfrezi and a Lamb Shank, one of New Jomuna’s “Signature Dishes”. Both of these were first rate; the lamb was wonderfully tender and the chicken was suitably spicy (as I had requested). The accompanying Sag Bhaji and Tarka Dall were also good. Unfortunately, on this occasion, my appetite did not stretch to ordering desserts. But large quantities of their Merlot slipped down a treat!
Basically the reason this place is popular because someone behind the scenes really knows how to cook Indian food. I am very much looking forward to a return visit.
