Rangrez
Right next to the busy Hammersmith Broadway, Rangrez clearly benefits from its proximity to the Hammersmith Apollo; I’m sure many audience members nip in here for a pre- or post-show meal.
The menu is not particularly long, but it does contain a few unusual dishes. For a starter we tried their Chicken Zal-zala, a variant on the usual Tikka with a slightly crunchy taste. We also had the lamb Sheekh Kebab, which was above average.
Feeling slightly unadventurous we then had Chicken Vindaloo and Saag Chicken for mains. While not particularly spicy, the flavours were excellent and portion sizes were good.
After a quick Kulfi, we consumed our final Cobra beers and settled up.
My only negative comment would be that the service was rather impersonal – functional and efficient, but lacking any warmth or friendliness. But, judging by the food, it seems like a reliable sort of place, and I will definitely return.
