Definitive Reviews of London’s Indian Restaurants

Tandoori Nights 8

“Most people can’t eat that dish, but you polished it!” That was the manager’s parting comment as we left after I had braved their Red Chicken Handi. It’s described as a “wildly hot fusion of chillies with a highly spiced marinated chicken. Only for the brave!”

Well I’m glad I was brave enough to make the journey to East Dulwich and try this fiery concoction. Usually when a menu warns you that a dish is “wildly hot”, it isn’t. But this time they were telling the truth.

Other excellent dishes included their Gosht Kata Handi (spicy lamb with chillies) and Zameen Handi, a curry made from black eyed beans and lentils.

Their menu offered an interesting selection of Indian deserts, but on the night we went none were available — a pity. So we had to make do with the usual selection of bought-in ice creams.

The service was very friendly and efficient. This is clearly a popular restaurant with a loyal following.
