Vindaloo Vic

Definitive Reviews of London’s Indian Restaurants

Memories of India 10

This is a restaurant that seems to have a large and loyal following. It’s quite big – much bigger than you would think from the outside. There is also a large conservatory-style room at the back. Suffice it to say that on a Monday night the place was full.

The menu is quite short but includes a few unusual dishes, such as Pepper Prawns for a starter and “Officers Chops” (sic) for a main course. But on this occasion we stuck to familiar choices, sharing a Mixed Tandoori and then following this with a Murg Adrakwala and a Karahi Chicken. These latter two dishes were first rate, particularly the Adrakwala which is made with ginger, lemon juice and hot spices. I finished with a fine Rasmalai.

Although the service was efficient, our waiter was somewhat grumpy. This is strange as other reviewers praise the restaurant’s friendly approach. Maybe he was just having a bad day.

Suffice it to say that I will make a return visit soon, if only to have another portion of the Adrakwala.
